Hi folks,
April is a busy time for events. Here are some that may be of
interest to you. For current information, check out
vtpeakoil.net/calendar.html

We're very excited about Richard Heinberg's visit to Montpelier next
Thursday, April 24. If you want to come to his State House visit,
that is open to the public. He'll be in Room 11 at 9 am, talking to
legislators.

He'll also be on Equal Time on Wednesday, April 23 on WDEV 96.1 &
96.5 FM/550 AM starting at 1:05, if you'd like to listen and maybe
call in.

Finally, he'll be at Montpelier High School for the big public event, at 7 pm.

Other items below.

Cheers,
Carl

April 19, Saturday
National Hanging Out Day (everywhere!)
Every year, on April 19th, Project Laundry List joins together with
hundreds of organizations from around the country to educate
communities about energy consumption. National Hanging Out Day was
created to demonstrate how it is possible to save money and energy by
using a clothesline. So find your clothespins, enjoy a little sun and
wind, and hang out! [Note: The Senate energy bill, S. 350,
originally included a provision declaring that clothes lines are
legal everywhere in Vermont. The Senate removed that provision. There
may still be an opportunity to change that in the House.]

EVERYTHING I WANT TO DO IS ILLEGAL: Readings from Joel Salatin's Book
(Montpelier)
Free & open to the public (donations welcome!)
Joel Salatin's frustration with a regulatory structure that
restricts, rather than embraces, community-scale agriculture is
presented in his book Everything I Want to do is Illegal. Come watch
snippits of a Salatin film and hear excerpts from his book read by
Vermont farmers struggling with some of these same regulatory
barriers. A short discussion will follow, including an update on
Rural Vermont's legislative campaigns. If you're unfamiliar with Joel
Salatin, this event will be a great introduction to one of our
country's leading farm activists! (NOTE: Joel will NOT actually be
at this event, only in spirit!)
