Hi folks,
Just a reminder, the Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee
will be taking testimony on the need for Vermont to respond to peak
oil this Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 9 am. I'll be testifying, based on
the work that some of you have helped pull together. Scott Printz is
providing some charts. If you'd like to come along, it would really
help to show the senators the grassroots support that this topic has.

The testimony is in Room 8 of the Statehouse, the Senate Natural
Resources and Energy Committee's room. It's on the first floor, the
east-ish wing. (The Statehouse faces somewhat west of south.)

For those who wish to discuss strategy, etc., we're meeting in the
Statehouse cafeteria at 8:30 am.

Scott Printz is coming up from Bennington, crossing over at Rutland,
and is willing to pick up someone along the way. Contact him at
scottprintz at gmail.com. If anyone else wants to carpool, please let me
know.

Also, John Kaufmann of the Oregon Dept. of Energy, who helped a lot
on the Portland Peak Oil Report, may testify via telephone later in
the morning. He's pencilled in for 11:30 am; I'll let you know when I
have more information. If that works, it will be worth listening to.
He has been travelling around the country helping and encouraging
initiatives like ours.

Ginny Lyons, chair of the committee, advises waiting on the press
conference until our report is finished. She'll help organize it, and
bring in other legislators. Let's press on with finishing the report
as soon as the testimony is finished.

Thanks!

Cheers,
Carl
